Top 3 Most Popular iPhone Apps For The Web
90A few years ago, Apple decided to let third-party software writers release their own applications for iPhones, and the result has been an explosion of useful apps that can do everything from order pizzas to track packages being shipped cross-country.
These days, there are more than 100,000 useful iPhone apps available from the Apple store – many of them free. And with so much customer support and enthusiasm behind the Apple brand, it’s easy to log in and see which apps are generating the most excitement on any given day.
The short-list of which apps are spreading the fastest is constantly changing, but there are a few defining characteristics that destine an app for a huge base of users.
Many of the favorite apps are games or gimmicks, and they spread fast because the user can download them quickly and then use them until they’re bored and move on. But there are more than a few timeless iPhone apps that come in handy again and again. These are the apps that end up staying on board for the life of the phone.
NEWS FLASH, THE IPHONE 5 IS ALMOST GOING TO BE RELEASED, CHECK MY HUBPAGES BELOW FOR IPHONE 5 SPECS:
Here are a few most popular iPhone apps:
Launch Pad:
Launch Pad may not be a glamorous iPhone web app with all kinds of clever gadgetry on board, but it’s a great streamliner that comes in handy for anyone who uses their phone to surf the Web. Launch Pad is a top contender in the "Productivity" category on Apple’s homepage.
What It Is and How to Use It
When an iPhone user installs Launch Pad on their phone, it becomes the starting point for any internet searches. Launch Pad lets users connect to popular sites like Wikipedia, Google, Youtube and other favorite destinations in a single click. Rather than navigating first to the parent website, the user can fly with their search terms directly from the launch pad to their site of choice.
Here are a few special features of Launch Pad:
- Launch Pad items: this feature lets the user link immediately to any applications or websites. These links are marked with a familiar icon and tucked into the Launch Pad toolbar for quick and easy access.
- Page indicator: this feature automatically starts up when the control has two or more pages going at once. It lets users quickly select which page they want to use.
- Change angles: Launch Pad automatically adjusts for landscape and portrait orientations and it keeps up with users on the fly.
Where Traveler
This web app is perfect for the kind of business-oriented travelers who can’t remember how they ever got by without an iPhone 5. It already has tens of thousands of entries covering restaurants, hotels, shops and entertainment venues around the world. The list continues to grow as more users climb on board.
What It Is and How to Use It
Where Traveler has been in the travel guide business for more than seven decades, so they have plenty of experience connecting people on the move with the places they’re most interested in finding. Before going digital, the company published guidebooks on more than 120 distinct destinations. Most of these destinations where in the United States, but they also have information on several capital cities in Europe.
Where Traveler is ideal for globetrotting iPhone users who don’t have time to ask around for advice on restaurants and hotel rooms. The service is completely free from the Where Traveler website.
Here are a few of the apps leading features:
- Translation: this archive of information is available in 27 languages, so that the more than 50,000 entries are available to the masses.
- Real-time currency conversion: on-the-fly conversion between all major currencies – an invaluable tool for checking bills in restaurants and hotels.
- Up-to-the-minute airport information: including a full roster of arrivals and departures, flight cancellations, traffic conditions around the airport and expected security wait-time at the gate.

Geo Meter
This little web app doesn’t inspire awe when users first hear about it, but there’s a reason that it tops the list in Apple’s "Utilities" category. Geo Meter delivers accurate GPS details on the user’s latitude and longitude, outputting information that can be used in conjunction with a host of other apps.
What It Is and How to Use It
Geo Meter keeps the user constantly updated regarding their current latitude and longitude, altitude, heading and speed. It also keeps track of its margin of error at all times, so the user knows how reliable the reading is at any given moment.
This GPS information is triangulated with the help of GPS satellites, cell phone towers and even wireless internet signals, the entire set of which guarantee accurate results. This handy app is especially with avid geocachers.
Here are a few of the special features of Geo Meter:
- Coordinates: the app perpetually recalculates GPS coordinates and outputs up-to-the-minute latitude, longitude, speed, heading and altitude measurements.
- Google Maps: it features a crossover interface so that users can view their location on Google Maps.
- Cut-and-paste data: coordinates and other information can be cut out of the app’s user interface and pasted into another, so users can tweet their coordinates or enter them into other GPS-related web apps.

The apple i phone is like a space machine from the future. It's amazing how much crazy stuff you can do with this little piece of technology. There is even an application where you can perform background checks on people on the spot. Do you think iphones will start replacing computers?
Great tips. I could definitely use the launch pad!

Thanks for the post. This is a helpful read.
LaunchPad sounds cool.. I'll have to check it out.
Can you explain the secret how this hub rated a ninety nine?
Thanks
Great hub it would be bigger if it listed ladida but this abbreviate account is appealing informative.
Useful info, i will download for my iphone 3gs...
Iberkenbosch, i think it is really good idea if i will check more reviews of other people about it on Google. This is really cool information about iphones coming you. Thanks Man!
Now imagine if nearly every cover letter that you read says nothing about the job and simply gives an overview of what is already on the resume. It doesn't tell you how the applicant plans to use those experiences for the benefit of the company. It just summarizes the information in the resume...BORING!
Task Manager = #1
Great hub it would be better if it listed ladida but this short list is pretty informative.
The best app ever is Pdanet, which makes ur phone into a wireless hotspot. You have to have your phone jailbroken tho.
I like it this is beautiful phone & my choice n97 iphone
I still haven't got on the "iPhone train" yet. But I intend to do so soon. Really liked this hub! Thanks

These are the Best Applications for the Apple iPhone. The instructions given are very useful.
For those who want to build an iPhone app, check out www.bigforge.com. They do a great job and use their own platform, so pricing is very competitive. Users can also build their own, great for those who don't know Objective-C and Cocoa Touch, also good for those wanting a white label.
Now there should be a hubpages app. That would be perfect
The Sky Plus app is my favourite
Check this out, it's all about the new iPhone, it will give you clarity on if you want to buy it or not. http://hubpages.com/hub/iPhone-4-Design-Features-a
Love the new Kindle apps, and other bookstores apps that are coming out.
The apps for the iphone could have been a little better
Very cool, gotta love the iPhone!
I am not a fan of the iphone..but I will admit, these apps look pretty cool.
nice idea to write about the useful ones rather than the funny gimmicky ones that people only get to show their friends once and then rofget about.
Great hub You provided info is true use full.
Rebecca failed finally, in ruining her Oil Paintings Store
husbands’ life. Maxim and “I” also lost Manderley,
These apps are useful, but I think that something like yelp would provide more interaction with respect to the web. Users rating places from their own phones and allowing you to see the ratings in real time is true utilization of web capabilities.
There are new apps coming out every day, please keep us all updated. Great hub!
important information
Very good information you provided
Just got an iphone so I'll look into these :). The traveler app seems really useful!
Great apps mate! Thanks!
thx for the info.so im going to make a hub bout Ipods and iphone 3Gs and 2Gs and Itunes and Apps and more.its useful and awesome to me.
Thanks for sharing this info. Btw, augmented reality apps like Wikitude or Worksnug also really cool apps.
Great Hub! I can't wait to try out those apps!
One of my favorite downloads is the phantasm phone call. You don't know how many times I've used it to stop unreasonable "listening" from other people.
I simply put the phone in my pocket, hit the right keys which I now know by heart, and have an anonymous caller call me.
Who would stop you from continuing an important phone call?
Just don't say things like, "My wife says the house is on fire" or you'll arrive home with the fire engines waiting and their captain for an explanation.
Kindle app!!
That's a great hub. Thanks!
I like Where Traveler.
Not the best iPhone apps, could of been a little better, some of them seem pretty useless to me as a avid user.
@C.Stewart I hear ya, I keep mine to a minimum but I'm always so tempted to add more.
wow, thanks! I'll probably download one or 2 of these.
So many apps. I can't keep up.
Get some cool and free mp4 movies for your iphone at http://www.phonevidz.net

Thanks for the excellent information. There are so many apps it is hard to know which one will work best for you.
Great Post!
Wooooowww!! What an informative hub. I am not a tech person but i liked the information you shared.
Woah, I've never seen all those apps before!
FaceMix is an app you will never get bored of as faces and friends around you will keep changing. With Face Mix you can use pictures from your photo library on the iPhone or take new pictures. The faces are split into six parts and shuffled to form a completely new face, that you have to remember and rebuild. Reconstructing these strange new faces is not as easy as you think. And it's fascinating to see what changing a pair of eyes can do to a face.
You can also decide to only mix the faces and share these amazing new faces with your friends!
Very well written! I am on the fence between the new iPhone 4 or the new Android 2.2 which comes out next month. Decisions, decisions...
For musicians who want to perform everyday of the week, there's nothing better than the OpenMicFinder+ app
Nice tips here Iberken. Indeed these new applications will surely be of help for some businessmen who are fund of using gadgets as a way to ease up recording and reminders. Apple definitely has innovated into a lot since it gained popularity. Their products are just very helpful.
Aloha!!!

Greetings,
Dave

i gonna use it,,..now..
Great hub and I just linked this hub to mine on iphone apps. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for making these apps more clear regarding their usefulness especially the Launch pad and the Geo meter.
Apple came out with one of the best products. I would love to get in on it and promote it, as an affiliate, the large print is what folks with eye problems need so they can see the larger prints. It makes it so much easier for them to do their research on the web.
That GEO Meter app looks great for hiking. I'll definitely have to download that one!
After reading this hub, I decided to try launchpad, and I love it. Thanks

Cell phones have evolved into miniature computers, it's really amazing how technology has evolved.
These apps remind me of WP plug-ins, except for your cell. :)
